Ardconnel Bed and Breakfast

Ardconnel is a friendly bed and breakfast on Craigiefield Road, just on the edge of Kirkwall with the sea and open fields close at hand. It's a relaxed, well-kept place run with care, the sort of stop where a good night's sleep and a proper cooked breakfast set you up for a day out on the islands.

Rooms & comfort

The bedrooms are bright and uncluttered, with crisp white linen, soft grey throws and pine or upholstered headboards. One room is set up with twin beds, an armchair and a desk corner, while a double has bedside lamps and plenty of space to settle. A tea and coffee tray, a wall-mounted TV and a window looking onto green fields come as standard. The shower room is modern and spotless, with a corner shower, lit mirror and a Velux window letting the light pour in.

The location

You're a short hop from the centre of Kirkwall, with the magnificent St Magnus Cathedral, the harbour, shops and restaurants all within easy reach. The ferry terminal for the northern isles is close by too, making this a handy base whether you're here to explore the town or use it as a springboard for the rest of Orkney.

Good to know

Breakfast is a highlight, from a full Scottish with bacon, sausage, egg, tomato and black pudding to smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. There's private parking, WiFi throughout and a garden, with sea views from parts of the property.
