Inside

The living room is the heart of the house: a tall stone chimney breast with a wood-burning stove set into it, a soft rug, a leather recliner and sofas, and a window framing the green fields outside. It opens through to a generous kitchen-diner with cream shaker units, an integrated oven, microwave and kettle, exposed stone detailing and a large oak dining table that easily seats the whole party. Upstairs there's a second, cosier sitting area with a blue sofa pulled up to a big picture window that looks straight out to sea.

Where you'll sleep

The double bedroom has a solid oak bed against a deep blue feature wall, a bedside lamp and a framed print — calm, warm and finished with wood floors underfoot.

Step outside

The barn sits in wide lawns with open views over the surrounding fields towards the water — room for children to play and a fine outlook in every direction.

This is rural Orkney at its best: peaceful, green, big-skied and a short drive from the villages, beaches and ancient sites scattered across Orkney. You'll want a car out here, and you'll be glad of the quiet.
