0Captain Wylie's Hoose
About this property
Captain Wylie's Hoose is a single-storey cottage standing on its own in open Orkney countryside, with fields running out to the horizon on every side. A sunroom catches the light along the front, there is a chair set out to take in the view, and the parking and quiet make it an easy place to arrive and unwind.
Inside
The sitting room is a relaxed, characterful space with deep green walls, a fireplace, comfortable seating and a window framing the green fields beyond. Off it sits a galley kitchen, compact and practical, with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and washer, everything you need to cook in and eat well during your stay.
Where you'll sleep
The cottage sleeps four across two bedrooms. The double seen here has a solid wooden bed, fitted wardrobes and bedside lighting, a comfortable, restful room. The bathroom is clean and bright, with a shower over the bath, basin and WC.
Step outside
The setting is the real pleasure here. There is a garden with a metal arch and lawn, sheep grazing in the next field, and daffodils and tall grasses catching the evening light as the sun goes down. With a hot tub to soak in, it is a lovely spot to end a day of exploring.
The setting
Out in the wider Orkney landscape, you are surrounded by farmland and big skies, with the islands' beaches, archaeology and wildlife all within reach by car. It suits anyone who wants peace and space rather than being in the thick of a town.
Perfect for
A family or two couples, up to four, after a quiet rural bolthole with a hot tub, a cosy living room and proper Orkney countryside on the doorstep.
