The building is a smart white-rendered bungalow set back behind its own gravel parking area, with a paved path leading to the front door — so arriving by car is straightforward and you're not far from the heart of town.

Rooms & comfort

The rooms are bright and freshly finished. One twin is dressed in crisp white linen with a bold blue-and-grey leaf print, two solid oak headboards and folded towels left ready on the beds. Walls are painted soft neutrals, with a wall-mounted flat-screen TV in each room and en-suite facilities — one I saw has a corner shower cubicle, a clean white basin with a mirror above and a heated rail with towels and glasses set out. Light comes in through the windows with full curtains, and there's a small dressing table tucked into an alcove if you need somewhere to sit.

The location

You're on the Peerie Sea side of Kirkwall, within easy reach of the town centre, the harbour and St Magnus Cathedral. The working harbour is part of daily life here — stacks of creels and lobster pots line the quay, a reminder that this is a real fishing and ferry town, not a tourist set-piece.

Good to know

Free parking on site, WiFi throughout, a TV in the room and access to kitchen facilities. Everything is on one level, which makes it easy if you'd rather avoid stairs.
