Castleyards Apartment 1 is a cosy, one-bedroom flat right in the middle of Kirkwall, reached by its own external stair. You can hear the bells of St Magnus from here, the cathedral's distinctive spire is visible from the windows, and the whole of the town centre is on foot. Parking is provided.

Inside

The sitting room has a homely, lived-in warmth, a black leather sofa, a bold floral feature wall, and a small dining table by the window for meals in. The galley kitchen is well equipped with a granite worktop, induction hob, microwave, toaster and kettle, everything you need to self-cater for a few days. A folder of Orkney visitor guides is left out to help you plan your days.

Where you'll sleep

One bedroom sleeps two, with a comfortable double, oak headboard and a bedside lamp for evenings in. Fresh towels are laid out ready. A washing machine on site helps for longer stays.

The setting

You really can't be more central. St Magnus Cathedral, the museums, restaurants, pubs and harbour of Kirkwall are all a short walk away, and the ferry terminal for day trips to the isles is close by too. Leave the car parked and explore the town on foot, then drive out across the Mainland whenever you like.
