Enegar sits up in the Innertown above Stromness, a tidy modern house with flower-filled baskets along the garden fence and open fields rolling away behind. You'll spot the painted Enegar Burradale stone at the roadside as you pull in, and there's plenty of room to park. Step through the front door into a bright, welcoming hall with a coat bench and tiled floor — a practical landing spot for boots and bags after a day out.

Inside

The kitchen is a neat, well-stocked little galley: a good run of counter, a deep sink, microwave, kettle and even an air fryer on the shelf, with mugs hung ready and a fridge tucked underneath. It has everything you need to cook in and keep things simple, whether that's breakfast before the ferry or a quiet supper at the end of the day.

Where you'll sleep

There are two bedrooms, calm and restful, done in soft sage and pale tones with wooden bedsteads, bedside lamps and fresh towels set out for you. One has a full-length mirror and a little wooden side table with flowers — small touches that make it feel cared for. The bathroom is generous, with a corner shower, neat sink and toilet, a heated towel rail and a window letting in the light.

The setting

The house looks across farmland on the edge of Stromness, the old grey-stone harbour town with its winding flagstone street, galleries and the ferry pier for the Scrabster crossing. You're a short drive from the shops and cafes but tucked away from the bustle, with hills and big skies on your doorstep.

A family or a group of up to five, with parking, wifi and your own kitchen and garden. The space, the quiet and the easy run into Stromness make it an easy base for getting out and seeing the islands.
