Euston
About this property
Euston sits up on Downie's Lane in Stromness, high enough to look out over the harbour and the wide sweep of water toward Hoy and the islands beyond. The view from the front is genuinely special, sea, a small holm and boats at anchor, framed by the rooftops and the old church tower of the town below.
Inside
The kitchen and dining area is bright and modern, with white gloss units, an integrated oven, a sociable round table and dark leather chairs, and a window over the sink that pulls in the light. It's a clean, contemporary space that's easy to cook and gather in. Wood-effect and tiled flooring run through, keeping things practical for a holiday let.
Where you'll sleep
There are two double bedrooms, sleeping up to four. One has a dark wooden sleigh bed with matching bedside cabinets and warm lamplight, restful and uncluttered. The other is dressed in soft blue floral linen with a fitted wardrobe and a tall mirror, towels laid out ready. Both feel calm and well kept.
Step outside
There's a lawned garden and a sunny bench set beside the front door, a fine perch to sit out with a coffee and take in that harbour view. From the top of the garden the eye runs straight down over Stromness to the water.
The setting
Stromness is one of the most characterful towns in Orkney, a maze of stone-flagged streets, galleries, cafes and the ferry to Scrabster on the Scottish mainland. From here you're well placed for Skara Brae, the Ring of Brodgar and the West Mainland's archaeology, with Kirkwall a short drive across the island.
Perfect for
Couples or a family of four after a comfortable Stromness base with cracking harbour views, a hot tub, garden, parking and a proper kitchen. The two-double layout and easy access to the West Mainland sights make it a strong all-round choice for an Orkney holiday.
