Fara - B&B Private Suite

Fara is a private suite on Soulisquoy Place in Kirkwall, and the first thing you'll notice is the water. The sea sits right outside the windows, so you wake to the bay and watch the light move over it through the day. It's set up as a self-contained retreat for two, with its own front-of-house feel and a genuinely special outlook.

Rooms & comfort

The bedroom faces the sea, with a solid oak bed, layered cushions including a smart lobster-print accent, a bedside lamp and a window framing the bay and far shore. The sitting room shares that view, with a comfortable sofa, a wall-mounted TV and a small table by the glass where you can sit with a drink and watch the boats. The star turn is the bathroom: a deep spa bath that fills with bubbles, lit by candles for a proper soak after a day in the wind.

Where you'll sleep

One double bedroom sleeps two, kept calm and uncluttered with sea views from the pillow, plus the spa bathroom and a tidy little kitchen area so you can be self-sufficient when you want to be.

The setting does the heavy lifting here, with the bay on your doorstep and Orkney's famous Italian Chapel, that small wartime treasure built by Italian prisoners, an easy and rewarding drive away.
