Inverloch is a roomy modern bungalow in the open countryside of Holm, with a smart attached garage, a gravel drive and a tidy lawn out front. It's the kind of solid, comfortable family base where everyone has space to spread out, and the surrounding farmland keeps things quiet and private.

Inside

The living room is generously sized, with two large fabric recliner sofas facing the TV, a patterned rug underfoot and a big window letting the daylight stream in. The kitchen-diner is light and contemporary, with grey units, a wood-effect worktop, oven, toaster and a breakfast bar and dining table, brightened by cheerful curtains and a vase of sunflowers. There's a washing machine on hand too, so longer stays are easy to manage.

Where you'll sleep

With three bedrooms, Inverloch sleeps five, making it ideal for a family. There are two bathrooms to keep mornings running smoothly, including a shower room with a glass enclosure and a separate WC with basin, both crisp and well kept.

Step outside

Out back there's a raised decked area with a wooden table and chairs, a sheltered spot to sit out with a coffee and look across the lawn to the neighbouring fields and the low Orkney horizon beyond. It's a fine place to round off the day.

The setting

Inverloch sits in Holm, a rural corner of Orkney close to the Churchill Barriers and the Italian Chapel, with Kirkwall a short drive away for shops and amenities. It's well placed for exploring the South Isles and the wider archipelago.
