Kevara Shepherds Hut

Kevara Shepherds Hut — also known as Craig's Cabin — is a cosy timber-clad retreat in Finstown, with an apex roof and its own raised deck reached by a gentle ramp. A heart-shaped wreath on the duck-egg-blue railing sets the tone: small, sweet and very welcoming.

Inside

Inside it's a clever studio that makes the most of every inch, with a kitchenette fully fitted for self-catering and a TV for downtime. The shower room is fresh and green-toned, with a basin, WC, a hanging trailing plant and little framed touches that lift it above the ordinary.

Where you'll sleep

This is an open-plan studio sleeping two, so the bed and living space share the one bright, comfortable room — simple, warm and easy to relax in.

Step outside

The decking wraps along the side of the cabin, with a fenced boundary and the green Orkney hills rising beyond the neighbouring houses. Potted plants and outdoor seating make it a fine spot to sit out with a drink under a wide sky.

The setting

The cabin sits right in Finstown, close to the loch and handy for the local shop, with Firth church and the wider Mainland's stone circles, cairns and Kirkwall all a short drive away.
