The open-plan living space is the standout. A long grey corner sofa scattered with mustard cushions faces a coffee table, with framed Orkney-style seascapes on the walls and a tartan pendant light overhead. It flows into a sleek modern kitchen-diner: pale handleless units, a tall extractor over the hob, a built-in oven, a peninsula with bar stools and a solid oak dining table with upholstered chairs. A big station clock and a small vase of sunflowers give it character.

Where you'll sleep

The bedrooms are dressed like a boutique hotel, with deep buttoned upholstered headboards, crisp white linen and matching bedside lamps. There's a generous double with mustard velvet cushions and fresh towels laid out, and a flexible twin room with the same headboard styling. A third room has a triple bunk for the youngsters or extra guests, with a bedside lamp and rolled towels ready. The shower room is bright and tiled in soft grey, with a quadrant shower enclosure, a wall-hung basin and a backlit mirror.
