Lilly's Lodges Orkney Robin Lodge

Robin Lodge is a roomy timber glamping pod at Lilly's Lodges, perched on the open hillside at Redland with long views over farmland to the firth beyond. The first thing most guests notice is the private hot tub bubbling away on the deck, with a picnic bench beside it and nothing but green fields and sky in front of you. It's a relaxed, get-away-from-it-all kind of arrival.

Inside

Step in and the pod opens up more than you'd expect. The curved pine ceiling lifts the whole space, and there's a comfortable corner sofa, a dining table and chairs by the French doors, and a compact kitchen with hob, oven and the kit you need to cook a proper meal. A wall-mounted TV and trailing greenery add to the homely feel.

Where you'll sleep

With two bedrooms, Robin Lodge sleeps up to four. The main double is dressed in soft sage floral linen under the barrel ceiling, with a window letting in the morning light, and the sofa offers a further sleeping space for the rest of the party. It's an easy layout for two couples or a family.

Step outside

The deck is where you'll spend the evenings. Sink into the hot tub and watch the light change over the fields and the water, or eat outside at the picnic bench when the weather plays along. The timber screen keeps it private while leaving the view wide open.

The setting

The pod sits in open country a short drive from Finstown, a friendly village on the Bay of Firth that's well placed for both Kirkwall and Stromness and the Neolithic sites of the West Mainland.
