The pale green front door opens straight into a single-level lodge that sleeps four across two bedrooms, with off-street parking right at the kerb and solar panels on the roof.

Inside

The living area keeps things simple and bright, with a comfy sofa, a red armchair tucked in the corner and a wall-mounted TV. A low oak coffee table sits by the window, and the wooden flooring runs through into the kitchen. The kitchen is a tidy, well-fitted galley in warm wood units with a built-in oven and hob, under-cabinet lighting, a toaster and an undercounter fridge. There's a proper dining table with seating for everyone, so you can spread out a morning paper and a plate of pastries.

Where you'll sleep

The two bedrooms sit off a short hallway, one made up and ready with a mirror and air conditioning unit on the wall. The shower room is a smart, modern space with dark feature walls, a walk-in shower, a vanity basin with a lit mirror, a heated towel rail and patterned tiled flooring.

Step outside

The front of the lodge has a paved and gravelled area with seating, planters full of colour and that flagpole, all set behind a low timber fence facing the quiet road.

The setting

The lodge is well placed for exploring this corner of Orkney, with parking on the doorstep and the wider islands easy to reach by car. It's a calm, residential spot to base yourself for days out and evenings in.
