Quaint Cottage in Kirkwall
About this property
Tucked just off the Main Street in the heart of Kirkwall, this cottage has been done up with real care and a good eye. The green front door, with its wreath and little potted tree, gives a warm welcome before you've even stepped over the threshold, and the town's shops, harbour and cathedral are all within a short walk.
Inside
The kitchen is the standout, set under a sloping ceiling with a velux that floods it with daylight. An exposed brick wall runs behind open timber shelves, and the units are a soft sage green topped with warm wood-effect worktops. There's an induction hob, oven, toaster, kettle and a coffee machine, plus a wooden dining table and chairs to sit down at. A painted dresser styled with candles and plants adds a homely touch to the living space.
Where you'll sleep
The single bedroom has a comfortable double dressed in soft neutrals, with bedside lamps either side and a calm, pared-back feel. The shower room is bright and modern, with a large mirror, a glass shower over a basin vanity and a velux above keeping it airy.
The setting
You couldn't ask for a more central spot in Kirkwall. St Magnus Cathedral, the museums, the independent shops and the working harbour are all on the doorstep, so you can leave the car parked and explore on foot. It's an ideal launch pad for day trips out across the islands too.
Perfect for
A couple wanting a stylish, walk-everywhere base in the middle of town, with parking, wifi, a garden and laundry all sorted.
