Rockworks Chalet No.5 is a crisp, modern single-storey chalet set right by the water at St Mary's, part of a tidy row looking straight out across the sea. The big draw becomes obvious the moment you open the door, a clear, uninterrupted outlook over the bay with only a quiet road and a strip of grass between you and the shore.

The living area is light and contemporary, all soft neutral tones with a comfortable sofa, a dining table for meals and a TV in the corner. A framed coastal print echoes the view outside. The kitchen is compact and well kept, with cream units, an oven and worktop space, and a glazed door that opens onto that sea outlook, the perfect spot for morning coffee with the water in front of you.

Where you'll sleep

The chalet sleeps two in its bedroom, set up here with twin beds, fresh white linen, a chest of drawers and a window letting in plenty of daylight. It's simple, bright and restful.

Step outside

The setting is what makes it. The grass runs down to the road and the sea lies just beyond, so you can watch the light shift across the water from the doorstep, with the low Orkney hills and a wind turbine on the far shore.
