Taylor's Rest

Taylor's Rest is a crisp white bungalow at Toab, with a black tiled roof, a dramatic gable window and lawns running down to a dry-stone wall. There's parking at the door and plenty of open sky around it, so you arrive to space and quiet.

Inside

The living room is the heart of the house. A tan studded-leather sofa with tartan cushions faces a red wood-effect stove set into a warm sandstone wall, with a log basket alongside and a board game on the coffee table — a proper spot to wind down after a day out. The kitchen is bright and well kitted, with white units, a wood-effect splashback, an induction hob, integrated oven and microwave. The dining area sits under a copper pendant, with a sheep-print cloth on the table and a soft duck-egg wall behind.

Where you'll sleep

Three bedrooms sleep four. One is dressed in cosy tartan bedding with a solid pine bed, a lantern-style lamp on the bedside table and towels rolled out ready — a homely, country feel that suits the setting.

Step outside

The bungalow sits in its own grassy plot bordered by a traditional dry-stone wall, with a covered seating area off to one side and uninterrupted views over the surrounding fields.

Toab is on the East Mainland, handy for the airport and a short hop from the beaches and the wider attractions of Orkney, including the Italian Chapel and the East Mainland coast.
