The Little House
About this property
The Little House lives up to its name as a beautifully finished one-bedroom bolthole for two, and it's anything but plain inside. Think herringbone wood-effect floors, soft warm lighting and a slatted timber feature wall, all in a calm, modern open-plan layout right in the heart of Kirkwall.
Inside
The living and kitchen space flows together as one bright room. Two deep tan leather sofas face a TV mounted on the vertical-slatted wood panelling, while at the far end an L-shaped kitchen in pale handleless units does everything you need: induction hob, built-in oven, integrated microwave, a coffee machine, toaster and kettle, with a little round dining table and chairs by the window. Pot plants, ceramic jars and a linear pendant light keep it homely.
Where you'll sleep
The bedroom sleeps two and looks out over the garden, with a wood dressing table and round lit mirror, an open clothes rail and a window framing the greenery outside. The shower room is genuinely smart: marble-effect tiling, a slatted wood shower wall with a recessed lit niche, a round mirror, brass fittings and a walk-in shower.
The setting
You're moments from the centre of town. St Magnus Cathedral, with its red and yellow sandstone and old kirkyard, is right nearby, and the shops, cafes and harbour of Orkney's main town are all within a short stroll. Parking is provided for trips further out.
Perfect for
Sleeping two in one bedroom and welcoming to a dog, it's made for a couple after a stylish, central base, with wifi, a washer and a TV for easy evenings in.
