The Studio
About this property
The Studio is part of a traditional stone-built terrace right in the old heart of Stromness, opening onto one of the town's flagstone lanes. Step out of the door and you're among the same close-packed stone houses and narrow wynds that have defined this harbour town for generations – it's about as authentic a base as you'll find.
Inside
The living room is full of character. A deep red leather Chesterfield armchair sits beside a wood-effect stove set into a stone fireplace, there are shelves of books to browse and a quirky book-stack side table. Wood floors, a patterned rug and bookshelf-print curtains give it a snug, lived-in feel – the sort of room you settle into with a dram on a wet evening. A small dining area with two cushioned chairs sits near the kitchen, with WiFi throughout.
Where you'll sleep
The Studio sleeps two. The bedroom has a comfortable double dressed in green botanical-print bedding, a Tiffany-style bedside lamp and a sea-cliff artwork above the bed – calm and softly lit. The shower room is smart and modern, with a glass shower enclosure, basin and mirror.
The setting
You couldn't be more central. Step outside and the shops, pubs, galleries and the ferry pier of Stromness are all on your doorstep, with the Pier Arts Centre and waterfront a short stroll away. Leave the car and explore on foot.
Perfect for
A couple after a characterful town base – anyone who wants to be in the thick of Stromness, with cosy evenings indoors and everything walkable when you step out.
