Waterfront House

Waterfront House lives up to its name, sitting right at the shoreline with a long timber deck running the length of the building and the water lapping just below. The aerial view shows it strung out along the coast between fields and the sea, and from the deck you look straight across the bay to low hills beyond. It is a guest house sleeping two, with a bedroom and the sea on the doorstep.

Rooms & comfort

The interior is finished to a high standard, with warm oak floors throughout. A galleried landing has a glass balustrade, round wall mirrors and a glass-topped table with clear designer chairs set beneath a roof window that frames the fields outside. There is a small kitchenette area with a microwave, glasses and tea-and-coffee things on a timber unit, opening to a sitting space with a round table and chairs by a large window over the water. The bathrooms are a real treat: one has a marble-effect walk-in shower with a multi-jet shower panel, the other a corner spa bath with mosaic tiling, a wide vanity basin and a window with the same calm outlook.

The location

Set on the coast within reach of Kirkwall, this is a spot for anyone who wants the sea genuinely on their doorstep, with the town's shops and harbour a short drive away.
